Kyoto Residence Experience
Gion Hanna Stay is in the Gion district, known for traditional architecture and geisha culture. The hotel name comes from 'hannari,' a Kyoto term meaning elegant and bright. Rooms feature Nishijin fabrics and Japanese floral colors inspired by ancient poetry, including akane-iro (red sky), moegi-iro (spring greenery), and tsuyukusa-iro (morning dew flower). Each unit includes a kitchen with induction stove, refrigerator, rice cooker, and microwave, plus a washing machine and free Wi-Fi.
Accommodation Options
Rooms range from 26 to 31 square meters. Options include Comfort Twin with garden views and tatami mats, Moderate Twin with akane-iro decor, Standard Twin with moegi-iro colors, Standard Triple with tsuyukusa-iro themes, and Superior rooms on the 5th floor with kurotsurubami-iro (black cloth) accents. All have air conditioning, flat-screen TVs, private bathrooms with bidets, and keyless entry that doesn't auto-lock.
Gion Neighborhood Access
The hotel is a 3-minute walk from Higashiyama Station (Kyoto Subway), 5 minutes from Sanjokeihan Station, and 6 minutes from Sanjo Station (Keihan Railway). Furukawacho Shopping Street ('Nishiki of the East') is 5 minutes away, with fresh seafood shops and craft beer pubs. Pontocho dining alley (15 minutes walk) features 100-year-old houses converted to restaurants. Nishiki Market is 18 minutes on foot.
Guest Services
The 24-hour front desk staff speak English, Hindi, Japanese, and Thai. Services include luggage storage (available from morning of arrival), currency exchange for 80 countries, fax, photocopying, and ironing. Food delivery and massage services are available for a fee. No meals are included, but guests can cook in-room or use delivery services. The entire building is non-smoking.
Kyoto Living Experience
Guests can start mornings at local bakeries, watch locals clean small shrines, rest by the Kamogawa River, and stroll through Gion's paved alleys. The hotel provides amenities including yukata robes, slippers, Malin+Goetz toiletries, hair dryers, and toothbrushes. Itami Airport is the nearest airport, accessible via public transport from nearby stations.
“What stands out is the residential-style setup, uniquely blended with Kyoto's Gion district ambiance. The rooms, inspired by traditional Japanese art, offer a spaciousness that is unexpected. Its prime location near key attractions and transport makes it ideal for immersive exploration.”
